Running this website costs me many dollars every month!

1. Adding -e. E.g. der Abend - die Abende; der Tisch - die Tische

2. Adding -e and modifying the stem vowel. E.g. der Baum - die Bäume; der Sohn - die Söhne

3. No change. E.g. der Morgen - die Morgen; der Onkel - die Onkel

4. Modifying the stem vowel. E.g. der Apfel - die Äpfel; der Vogel - die Vögel

5. Adding -er and modifying the stem vowel. E.g. der Mann - die Männer; der Wald - die Wälder

6. Adding -s. (Mostly words borrowed from other languages.) E.g. der Cowboy - die Cowboys

7. Adding -se. E.g. der Bus - die Busse

8. Adding -n or -en. E.g. der Junge - die Jungen; der Nachbar - die Nachbarn (Note: The majority of the nouns that form the plural in this way also add -n or -en to their singular form when used in accusative, dative or genitive case. These are called 'weak nouns'. Exceptions to this pattern include der Bauer, der Nachbar, der See, der Vetter and der Staat.)
